How to install Olympia Astrology ?

This page will explain how to install and activate your astrology software. We will also differentiate cases of Windows, Mac and Linux.

1- Purchasing and downloading

If you are reading this page, you have already purchased the software, unless you have requested the trial version.

Very important: if you have purchased the software with an internet payment, then you instantly received an order confirmation email. In this email there is a link to the Olympia installation file.

Just click on it and let the download happen.

Warnings :

  • If you have an antivirus, especially on Windows, it may block the download. However, you can force it. It depends on the versions of Windows and anti-viruses, but you may have a window, to deploy, with a ‘Download anyway’ button. Note : for this action, Chrome is easier than Edge.   • If you’re on a Mac, you’ll collect a DMG file from your computer’s Downloads folder. To install the software, double-click on the file and in the new window, drag the software into the Applications folder next to it. To watch this in video: Tutorial – Installation on MacOS
  • If you have purchased the software by bank transfer, you will not get a download link. It will be sent to you manually, upon receipt of funds (this can take several days, depending on your bank).
  • If you are bothered by the download procedure, do not hesitate to contact us, we can also send you the file via Google Drive or WeTransfer.
  • If you do not want to install the software over the internet, we can also send you the installer on a USB key, by post. This service will be charged. Disadvantage of this technique: you will have the current version of the software, but for future updates, you will have to download it from the internet.
  • If you have a 32-bit Windows (and not 64-bit) the downloaded installer will not work. Please contact us and we will send you an installer for 32-bit Windows.
  • If your MacOS version is Sierra (10.12) the downloaded installer will not work. Please contact us and we will send you an installer for MacOS Sierra.

2- Installation

After this download step, you will have a file in the ‘Downloads’ folder on your computer. This file is approximately 300 MB. Example names (file naming depends on the software version):

  • Windows: OlympiaInstaller_5.0.0_20240618_fk5s.exe
  • MacOS: Olympia_V5.0.0_20240618_fk6.dmg
  • Linux: olympia_V5.0.0.deb

For Windows and MacOS, simply double-click the file and follow the instructions. Installation takes little more than a minute. For MacOS, drag the software into the Applications folder next to it. To see this in video: Tutorial – Installation on MacOS

On Linux, you can also double-click the file, but this may depend on your version of Linux. The best is to open a Terminal in the folder where the .deb file is located and type the command (to be adapted with the name of the downloaded file):

sudo dpkg -i olympia_V5.14.0.deb

3- First use – Activation

Like any software, Olympia is launched from the Start menu or from the icon installed on the computer desktop. On MacOS, go to the Applications folder of your Finder to start it (and do not hesitate to move the icon to your Dock).

You will then obtain this window:

As the label in red mentions: Olympia is not yet activated, it cannot be launched. This is about software protection.

You can click on it to see a video of how to activate the software. But the procedure is very simple and it is summarized below:

1- Click on the “1- Request the Activation Password of Olympia” button.

2- An internet page will open: all you have to do is enter your name and email (the same one you used to place the order) and press “SEND”

3- Within a few minutes, 24 hours maximum, you will receive a password by email (remember to monitor your spam!)

4- In the Olympia window, press the “2-Activate OLYMPIA with the password” button.

5- Copy the password you received by email and validate.

6- Olympia is activated, you can launch it using the large central button: “Start OLYMPIA”

7- Before starting, in this window you can choose the language and screen resolution, if necessary.

8- For the first use, we recommend pressing the “First steps with Olympia – Tutorial” button. By following this tutorial, you will save precious time when starting with Olympia.

If you are using the trial version of the software, this whole part does not apply to you.

4- Olympia – Home Window

You arrive at the launch window. You can start using the software…

It is probably the good time to watch the video tutorial for your first steps with Olympia !

Note on font sizes: If text sizes appear strange in the software, please check your Windows font size settings. To do this, right-click on the computer desktop, select Display Settings. Then make sure that the font size is set to 100%.

Settings

If you watched the getting started video tutorial, you may have noticed that one of the first things to do in the software is to go to the Settings window.

Although the Settings window is accessible at any time in Olympia (using a button or pressing the F2 key on the keyboard) and you can modify all the software options as you wish, it is strongly recommended to consult it and adjust all settings before starting to work on astrologic charts.

Each astrologer has his preferences, his habits:

  • Ascendant to the left of the chart or 0° of Aries?
  • European or American representation of the zodiac?
  • Tropical or Sidereal?
  • Placidus or Koch houses?
  • Lunar Nodes, average or true?
  • Show angle minutes with degrees?
  • A white background at the back of the charts, or a view of the Orion Cloud ?
  • Which orb is admissible for a conjunction?
  • Are quintiles displayed in the chart?
  • Should Chiron and Ceres be present? And the Corrected Black Moon? What about Vesta, Vertex, New Moon before birth…
  • How to calculate the Planetary Dominants?
  • Is the maximum orb of a conjunction the same in a Natal Chart as in a Progression?

The Settings window allows all of these settings. All choices entered are saved for future uses.

Help

In all windows of the Olympia Astrology software, a Help button launches an interface giving information on the current window.

Video tutorials, accessible from these windows, also help with using the software.
